Part 1 – Why? The journey of BIM adoption to date. What has it all been about?
Firstly Fiona will briefly look at BIM adoption in the UK to date, from the 2011 Government Construction Strategy, through to the creation of the UK BIM Framework in 2019, and beyond. Secondly, and much more importantly, she will look at why Information Management is crucial to improving our industry, and how it provides the benefits of the digital age.

Part 2 – How? How do we all play our part?
Casey takes a pragmatic approach to implementing Information Management when he helps businesses with their BIM adoption. He will share his thoughts on the most efficient way to improve your Information Management processes in order to gain maximum benefits as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

Fiona Moore
Director, Cirrus CS
Lead, Government and Industry Interoperability Group (GIIG)
Chair, Uniclass Advisory Board (UAB)
Executive Committee Member, UK BIM Alliance
Committee Member, HAWCE

An Architectural Technologist by background, with a strong track record of providing Information Management consultancy, amongst other work, Fiona currently oversees the technical delivery of the Government & Industry Interoperability Group (GIIG). The GIIG focuses on solving the practical implementation of interoperability, namely ‘the ability of two or more systems to securely exchange information and to use the information that has been exchanged’, without which the value of BIM / Information Management cannot be realised.

Fiona feels very privileged to have played a small part in driving the adoption of BIM in the UK. She has achieved this by being a strategic thinker, a pragmatist, and a good communicator. She is someone who thrives on debate with the aim of reaching consensus, and if consensus is not achievable, then she will at the very least help move the discussion forward, with the aim of achieving real long-term progress and value.
