Free Buffet at the beautiful Diglis House Hotel overlooking the River Severn

As the summer draws to a close we invite members of the construction industry to meet face to face (it’s been a while!) in a safe* environment with plenty of pleasant outdoor space to enjoy the annual social get together and a free buffet (with a pay bar) at the Diglis House Hotel, Severn Street, Worcester, WR1 2NF.

Visit the largest newly constructed fish pass in England and Wales nearby first to get your appetite up!

In addition to the social we have the opportunity (leaving 5pm prompt from the Hotel) to visit, on foot, one of the Worcester’s most interesting construction projects of recent times.
The Diglis Fish Pass is one of four newly constructed fish passes (completed in 2021) within the channel of the River Severn allowing migratory fish (twaite shad and salmon) that have been denied access to historic breeding sites for 170 years. This is the biggest fish pass of its kind (a deep vertical slot pass) in England and Wales being part of a £19.7m project with significant construction challenges.

The visit will be led by Jason Leach, programme director for the ‘Unlocking the Severn’ project and there will be an opportunity to visit the unusual viewing room where fish can be observed using the pass.

NB 1: The fish pass will be a 20 minute walk (each way) from the hotel so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing fit for the weather on the day.
NB 2: Numbers will be limited for the site visit and so please book early to avoid disappointment! Bookings on a first come, first served basis.

* At the time of advertisement, there are no Covid restrictions in place. The food and drinks will be served in the spacious Seymour Suite at the Hotel and there is an outdoor area with seating overlooking the River Severn just outside the Seymour Suite where you can eat and drink if you so choose.
