Fortis Living is the largest social housing provider in Worcestershire and Herefordshire and owns and manages c15,000 properties .

Fortis has plans to provide c500 new homes each year for rent and low cost home ownership as well as an annual investment programme of c£20m on its existing housing stock.

The Government’s stated policies are to promote home ownership rather than rented housing and it has introduced a number of new policies such as Right to Buy for housing association tenants, rent controls, pay to stay and the starter homes initiative which will increase the challenges ahead for housing associations.

The presentation will explore the role and current activities of housing associations and the opportunities and challenges ahead in this emerging environment.
