HAWCE’s summer event and barbecue is being held alongside a tour of the prestigious Stanbrook Abbey. Dating back to the early 19th century, the Abbey sits across a 26-acre estate, which has been recently converted into a 56 room hotel, conference centre and events and wedding venue.
Howl Associates was appointed as architect to provide conservation expertise and design input for the Grade II Listed building in Callow End near Malvern, Worcestershire, which was vacated by the Benedictine Community of nuns in 2009.

As well as works of restoration and internal conversion of the historic buildings the project included an extension to create a new arrival space and enlarged banqueting facility together with external high level terraces. Proposals were developed in liaison with Malvern Hills District Council and English Heritage.
Phil Howl of Howl Associates joins us to deliver a presentation on the renovation and extension works, followed by a tour of the abbey and barbecue on site.
