March 2016 event: The challenges facing affordable housing

We were delighted to welcome two speakers to our latest HAWCE event, which provided an insightful presentation by Guy Weston, Group Chief Executive and Richard Grounds, Executive Director for Growth and Development at Fortis Living - largest affordable housing provider in Worcestershire and Herefordshire; their primary purpose to build and manage affordable housing to support and sustain local communities.

Their presentation included the Housing and Planning Bill, Government support for home ownership, the Welfare Reform and Work Bill, voluntary Right to Buy and home ownership challenges. The presentation was comprehensive and followed by a lively Q&A.

Our second event of the evening was delivered by Andrew James of Harrison Clark Rickerbys. Andrew gave a comprehensive presentation supported by examples of the importance of compliance with the Construction Act and details of recent cases were used to generate discussion amongst the audience.
